Hundreds of woodies, the classic wood-trimmed station wagons of the 1920s through early ‘50s and a favorite of Southern California’s surfing culture, will be on display Saturday in Dana Point at the annual Doheny Wood car show.
The show is sponsored by Southern California Woodie Club and is open to all comers. On-site registration for woodie owners wishing to show their vehicles is $10. Admission to the show is free, but the state beach park entry fee is $3 per person. Doheny Wood runs from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the south parking lot of Doheny State Beach. For information, call (714) 968-9798.
The upcoming weekend is jammed with automotive events, including the opening of the new Automotive Road of Dreams Museum in Costa Mesa. The 14,000-square-foot museum at the Orange County Fairgrounds, 88 Fair Drive, Building 16, highlights celebrity, classic, antique and novelty cars. Hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. Admission is free.
