Rosie on Broadway? ‘Mamma Mia!’
NEW YORK — Rosie O’Donnell was coy on her TV show Monday when Donny Osmond asked if it is true she might come to Broadway as the lead in the British musical “Mamma Mia,” which offers the music of ABBA. But I hear there is a real possibility that when this delightful musical arrives on the Great White Way come October, Rosie will be in the cast as one of the hilarious backup singers. This leaves the wonderful Canadian Louise Pitre to make her Broadway debut as scheduled.
Speaking of Rosie . . . she pulled off a great surprise Saturday getting Tom Cruise to show up as the final guest at Nickelodeon’s 14th annual Kids’ Choice Awards. He arrived in time to be “slimed.” The event was held at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, and Cruise was top secret, flying in via private plane and taking a limo to the hangar. He and Rosie managed to dodge the media and sped off after. Ahhh, Tom and Rosie--together again!
