Chaminade Graduate Headed to Notre Dame

Derek Snyder, a graduate of West Hills Chaminade High, will attend Notre Dame on a fencing scholarship in the fall.

Snyder, a four-time national age-group champion, won the gold medal in the under-19 men’s foil division at the U.S. Fencing Assn. summer national championships last month.

He won eight titles at the Junior Pacific Coast Championships in the last four years.

Snyder also considered Stanford, Penn State, Ohio State and Columbia.
