LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Rev. Tim LaHaye, coauthor of the Christian “Left Behind” novels, and his wife, Beverly, have donated $4.5 million to the Rev. Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University.
The school said the gift and a matching offer would provide a student center with an Olympic-size swimming pool, fitness center, arcade and theater.
Tim LaHaye’s eight bestsellers, about people left behind on Earth after God summons true believers in the final reckoning, have sold more than 20 million copies. Beverly LaHaye, founder of the conservative Concerned Women for America, is a university trustee.
