Venus Swimwear Inc. has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that Pacific Sunwear of California Inc.’s “Venus Girl Trap” products violate the Florida firm’s registered trademarks.
Venus, based in Jacksonville, Fla., alleged that Pacific Sunwear, the Anaheim specialty retail chain, copied trademarks that Venus had been using for 14 years.
The lawsuit, which was filed last week, seeks an injunction to stop Pacific Sunwear from using the mark in a confusing manner. The lawsuit, which Venus disclosed Tuesday, also seeks unspecified damages.
Pacific Sunwear executives could not be reached for comment. The company’s stock closed at $22, up 4 cents, on Nasdaq.
