Capistrano Valley Gets a Sweep of Honors

Capistrano Valley’s Brad Davis and his coach, Bob Zamora, who guided the Cougars to a section championship, were named the Division I baseball player and coach of the year by the Southern Section, which announced its baseball, softball and boys’ volleyball teams.
Also receiving honors in baseball: Division II--Hart’s Bill Susdorf and Edison coaches Dave Tallman and Matt Mosiello; Division III--El Dorado’s Joe Turgeon and his coach, Matt Stine; Division IV--Ridgecrest Burroughs’ J.D. Martin and Bishop Amat Coach Ken Kendrena; Division V--Woodcrest Christian’s Dustin Wells and Cerritos Valley Christian Coach Ryan Vanderhoek; Division VI--La Verne Lutheran’s Scott Moore and Avalon Coach Richard Hernandez.
In softball: Division I--Valerie Sevilla of Rancho Cucamonga and her coach, Mike Lindensmith; Division II--Thousand Oaks’ Sheridan Fowler and her coach, Gary Wallin; Division III--La Serna’s Denise Linke and her coach, Ginger Larsin; Division IV--San Dimas’ Erica Spano and her coach, Don Pollard; Division V--Orange Lutheran’s Laura Miklos and her coach, Steve Miklos; Division VI--Linfield’s Natalie Fox and her coach, Scott Raftery.
In volleyball: Division I--Prince Seiuli of Long Beach Jordan and his coach, Jeff Johnson; Division II--Pat Nihipali of Mira Costa and his coach, Michael Cook; Division III--Blake Robinson of Santa Margarita and his coach, John Hawks; Division IV--Matt McKinney of Santa Ynez and Corona del Mar Coach Steve Conti; Division V--Abe Marouf of St. Margaret’s and his coach, Susie Maga.
