Fashion Tips for Improving Workplace

I agree with Fashion Police columnist Jeannine Stein’s (May 4) advice against strappy sandals in the office but for a different reason. Many workplaces require closed-toe shoes for safety reasons. The worker could file a worker’s compensation claim if they stub their toe or otherwise injure the foot. Requirements for proper protective footwear can cut down on these kinds of injuries.

I wear sandals to work all summer, but I have closed-toe, fisherman’s sandals. My feet are cool and comfortable, but protected. Sign me “Happy but Protected Feet.”

I would like to compliment and thank Ms. Stein for a sentence in her column in reference to a business casual wardrobe: to wear “knee-length skirts.”

I have managed offices for more than 20 years and absolutely do not believe a short skirt belongs in the business world under any circumstances. Miniskirts should be saved for nightclubs, parties (nonbusiness) and casual wear.
