Man Convicted of Killing His Mother on Christmas

A Superior Court jury convicted a Van Nuys man of second-degree murder Wednesday for shooting his mother to death in her southwest Los Angeles home in December.
As his family finished holiday preparations Christmas morning, Robert Earl Ricks Jr. entered the house, shot his mother, then left in his car, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Robert Grace, who prosecuted the case. Ricks was arrested the next day. No motive has been established, Grace said.
