The last member of a group of men accused of selling fake human growth hormones to body builders was arraigned Friday, capping an eight-month investigation that turned up hundreds of boxes of the counterfeit drug.
Bill Young, 33, of San Diego, pleaded not guilty to charges that he illegally distributed and sold 250 boxes of fake human growth hormone between July and August of this year.
U.S. Atty. Carol Lam said Young obtained a fake version of the legal drug Serostim on the black market and sold it to body builders.
Serostim is an approved medication for the treatment of wasting disease in AIDS patients.
