No. 25 Charleston Holds Off Stetson

College of Charleston’s trip to Florida nearly turned into a total loss.
But the 25th-ranked Cougars overcame a poor second half and held off a late charge from winless Stetson for a 66-64 victory Sunday at Deland, Fla.
Marcus Johnson scored 17 points to lead the Cougars (7-1), who were coming off an 82-64 loss to Central Florida on Thursday.
The Cougars shot 65% in the first half and led, 45-32, at halftime.
The Hatters (0-6) pulled to within 61-60 on a basket by Ravii Givens with 5:08 remaining.
Charleston’s shooting dropped to 29% in the second half and Stetson shot 50%.
Alexis McMillan and E.J. Gordon each had 15 points for the Hatters.
WOMEN’S TOP 25
No. 9 Vanderbilt 84, Austin Peay 50 -- Jenni Benningfield scored a season-high 20 points at Nashville to lead the Commodores (6-1) in the first game between the teams since 1990.
Gerlonda Hardin led Austin Peay (4-2) with 10 points.
Ohio State 84, No. 19 Arizona 65 -- Courtney Coleman scored 18 points, and LaToya Turner had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lift the Buckeyes (5-2) at Columbus, Ohio.
Shawntinice Polk had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Arizona (4-2).
No. 21 Boston College, 88, Harvard 49 -- Jessalyn Deveny scored 22 points, and Amber Jacobs had 19 for the Eagles (6-1) at Boston.
Hana Peljto scored 21 points to lead Harvard (5-3), which committed 29 turnovers.
No. 23 Texas 106, Southeastern Louisiana 42 -- Kala Bowers scored 24 points to spark the Longhorns’ rout at Austin, Texas.
Pam Mathews had 15 points for Southeastern Louisiana (1-5).
Nebraska 65, No. 25 Cincinnati 55 -- Alexa Johnson had a career-high 27 points, and the Cornhuskers (5-2) held Cincinnati (4-2) to 30% shooting at Lincoln, Neb.
K.B. Sharp led Cincinnati with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
