The Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Film Festival will celebrate its 20th anniversary next month with a 12-day event featuring a record 241 films and videos from 30 countries, organizers said Thursday.
The festival will open on July 11 with a program of short films from the last 20 years.
It will close on July 22 with a screening of “Lan Yu,” a Chinese film described as a love story between two men in Beijing.
The festival’s organizers announced that the sixth annual Outfest Achievement Award will go to Strand Releasing, which they lauded as being “the most important distribution company in the history of queer film.”
The company’s co-presidents, Marcus Hu and Jon Gerrans, will be honored at the festival’s awards ceremonies, to be held July 21 at the John Anson Ford Theatre in Hollywood.
