British officials will investigate reports that a British banker killed by a car bomb in Saudi Arabia was involved in alcohol racketeering, Foreign Minister Jack Straw said.
Simon Veness, 35, died when his vehicle exploded Thursday outside a residential compound for Westerners in northern Riyadh, the Saudi capital, the kingdom’s authorities said. There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Straw said he was concerned over reported claims by Saudi authorities that Veness was targeted because of his involvement in alcohol smuggling.
