Reading “Paving Paradise to Put Up a Parking Lot,” John Balzar’s Feb. 24 commentary on drilling in Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, I’m thinking that we are quickly becoming a nation that has forgotten how to make the world safe for democracy. We’re now making the world safe for oil rigs and snowmobiles.
I was hoping that exploring our national parks and wildlife areas wouldn’t require that I take along earplugs.
