Rugby Match Played After 30-Year Delay

Thirty years after their plane crashed in the Andes and 29 companions died, 14 amateur Uruguayan rugby players held a match that had been postponed for three decades.
The Old Christians rugby team had been on its way to Chile in October 1972 to play against the Old Boys, a Chilean school team, when their plane crashed south of Santiago. The 45 people aboard included teammates, friends and relatives.
Those who survived the 72-day ordeal had to resort to eating the flesh of those who died. The tragedy was the subject of a best-selling book and the 1993 movie “Alive.”
