NBC, DreamWorks Producing Cartoon
NBC and DreamWorks SKG are teaming up to produce what could be television’s first computer-generated imaging cartoon for prime time.
“Father of the Pride” is being billed as a family comedy as told by some snooty white lions that perform in Siegfried & Roy’s Las Vegas act. The producers hope to recreate the irreverence of DreamWorks’ popular movie “Shrek” for the small screen. It could be ready for fall 2004.
Financial terms were not disclosed, but DreamWorks will produce the show and license merchandise. NBC will pay nearly $2 million an episode and maintain domestic distribution and syndication rights.
