Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Terry Adams faces misdemeanor charges for allegedly attacking his wife in a New York hotel room seven weeks ago, according to a newspaper report.
Adams, 30, is due in court in Manhattan on Sept. 15 to face two counts of third-degree assault and single counts of second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported on its Web site Friday night.
The child endangerment charge was added because the couple’s then 4-month-old son, Trenton, was in the room.
Philadelphia is back in New York this weekend, playing the Mets.
Adams’ wife, Bea, said she has gotten a protection order against him. “His problems have ruined our lives,” she said.
