Detroit’s Chelios Is Out 3-4 Weeks

Detroit Red Wing defenseman Chris Chelios will sit out three to four weeks because of a sprained right knee and was put on injured reserve Tuesday.
Chelios was injured when he was checked by King forward Michael Cammalleri in Detroit’s 3-2 overtime victory Monday.
The Red Wings also put Steve Thomas on injured reserve because he is expected to be out five to six weeks because of an injured left knee. Thomas is scheduled to have surgery Thursday.
The Red Wings recalled Curtis Joseph from Grand Rapids (Mich.) of the AHL less than a week after they sent the veteran goaltender to the minors for the second time this season.

Pittsburgh Penguin forward Ramzi Abid is out indefinitely because of an injured right knee.
