Fair Redistricting

Kudos to Frank del Olmo for highlighting one of the structural problems so desperately in need of repair (Commentary, Dec. 7). Redistricting, by both parties, is really just “rigging the jury” in a different context. They pick which voters will judge them rather than be fairly judged by a representative pool. They negate the power of my and your vote. It’s used to insulate themselves from responsibility for their actions and to retaliate against political opponents. Give the job to an independent commission.
