Four Oxnard businesses were destroyed by fire early Tuesday in the 2800 block of Saviers Road.
The blaze started at Tres Hermanos clothing store, which was destroyed, along with an adjacent dance club, a barbershop and a travel agency, Oxnard Fire Battalion Chief Tom Waller said.
A nearby grocery store sustained smoke damage but reopened later in the day.
The fire was reported about 1:15 a.m. Sixty firefighters extinguished it in about 2 1/2 hours, Waller said. A cause has not been determined.
Structural damage was estimated at $1.5 million and loss of contents was estimated at $500,000. Some of the businesses did not have sprinklers, he said.
