In a case police have compared to the film “Fatal Attraction,” a 37-year-old man was charged Wednesday with attempted murder for allegedly tying up his ex-lover and slashing his throat.
Authorities said Duan Harnell Sisco, who is being held on $1 million bail, turned up unannounced Jan. 17 at the Hollywood apartment of Julian Spence, 42, with a birthday cake and knives. Spence’s birthday is in October.
Spence told police that Sisco ordered him into his bedroom and bound his wrists, ankles and mouth with tape before slashing him.
Sisco, who surrendered to police Monday, has been charged with five felony counts, including attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.
Spence’s roommate and a friend entered and left the apartment during the incident, police said, but they did not hear anything and were unaware of the attack.
According to police, Spence had had a relationship with Sisco in the last couple of years, although Spence had not seen Sisco for three months.
The victim told police he believes the suspect is still infatuated with him.
