To Mexico: What About Respect for U.S. Laws?
In explaining why he decided that bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman and his associates must stand trial in Mexico (June 27), Jalisco state Judge Jose de Jesus Pineda said he hoped the prosecution would “serve as [a precedent] to avoid having foreigners come here” without regard for Mexican laws. Puerto Vallarta Dist. Atty. Marco Roberto Juarez said, “They need to understand that they have to respect the laws of Mexico.”
Is there any way we could lure these two away from Mexico to come to California to strictly enforce our laws as they relate to people in this country illegally? Our judges and prosecutors won’t do so. They could learn a lot about insisting on respect for the laws of the U.S.
