Judge Rejects Claim That Killer Was Insane

A judge rejected defense claims Tuesday that Antron Singleton was insane when he killed his roommate and ate her lung.
Singleton’s PCP use at the time of the crime does not diminish his responsibility for it, Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Jack Morgan ruled.
Singleton, 26, was convicted of first-degree murder with torture and aggravated mayhem on June 25 for killing Tynisha Ysais.
Tuesday’s decision was based on a California law stating that a person suffering from the psychotic side effects of drugs cannot be found legally insane.
Singleton will be sentenced to life in prison in October. His attorney, Milton Grimes, said he committed the crime in a psychotic state brought on by a five-day PCP binge.
