Shell, Total Sign Saudi Gas Development Deal

Western energy firms won their first rights to exploit Saudi Arabia’s huge energy reserves since the kingdom nationalized the industry in the 1970s.
A consortium led by Royal/Dutch Shell and including Total struck a gas development deal covering 77,000 square miles in the vast Empty Quarter desert area of the Arabian peninsula. Terms were not disclosed.
