Not ideal for couch potatoes
Materials for the sculpture exhibition at Studio Channel Islands Art Center include a couch, that emblem of relaxation, artfully dismantled and re-purposed by Chris Tallon. “Couch,” dramatically suspended in the gallery, is just one of the diverse responses to curator David Feinner’s defining theme, “Dust Is Also Buddha (The Art of Grayness).” The show also includes Jan Sanchez’s neon-and-dirt “Sticks and Stones,” Angelo Allen’s lean metal “Portrait of Bertrand Russell,” and Hadiya Finley’s “Alone in a Birdhouse.”
