County OKs $1.5 Million for Brain-Damaged Boy

The county Board of Supervisors approved a $1.5-million legal settlement Tuesday in the case of a 2-year-old boy left severely brain-damaged from improper care at a county hospital.
The child, David Kinney, was taken to County-USC Medical Center in September 1999 for treatment of burns. Hospital workers incorrectly inserted a breathing tube, depriving him of oxygen.
