‘Bob Hope Airport’ -- What Better Honor?
On May 29 Bob Hope will be observing his 100th birthday. It would be nice if old ski-nose could hang around for another century, but things don’t work that way. He’s received almost every honor possible for his untiring support of American GIs and the billions of people he’s entertained over the years.
Some years ago, Orange County officials renamed their airport in honor of John Wayne, a Newport Beach resident. Hope has lived in Toluca Lake, very close to Burbank, for more years than most of us have been alive. Burbank might want to consider the precedent set by Orange County. What better tribute to an American legend than to rename Burbank’s facility Bob Hope International Airport?
