Grammy Organization Elects New Chairman

The Grammy organization has tapped music executive Dan Carlin as chairman, sources said.
Carlin was elected to a two-year term by trustees of the Santa Monica-based National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, which sponsors the annual music awards ceremony. He is vice president of film music for Bertelsmann’s Zomba unit and founder of music supervision firm Segue Music.
As chairman, Carlin succeeds Garth Fundis, the quiet Nashville music producer who last year united the board to oust the powerful and controversial president C. Michael Greene. Greene was succeeded as president by Zomba executive Neil Portnow.
Fundis is expected to serve a two-year term as chairman emeritus, advising Carlin, sources said.
