From Times Staff Reports
Two Orange County medical salesmen have been arrested on suspicion of fraudulently billing Southern California hospitals $3.5 million for spinal implant products never used.
Jason A. Koenig, 33, and Mark A. Crane, 45, both of Huntington Beach, were charged with mail fraud for allegedly turning in inflated lists of products ostensibly supplied by the company for which they worked, Depuy Acromed Inc.
The company didn’t know about the fraudulent billing, investigators said.
The men were honored as the medical supply firm’s top salesmen in 2001.
