Man, 85, Killed Crossing Street in Westminster

An 85-year-old Midway City man died Thursday after being hit by a car in Westminster.
Dang Chu was walking on Hazard Avenue just east of Magnolia Street about 11 a.m. when he tried to cross Hazard and was hit by a car traveling east, said Lt. Kevin Baker, a spokesman for the Westminster Police Department. Chu was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was pronounced dead.
“It doesn’t appear to be alcohol- or drug-related,” Baker said. “It appears to be just an accident.”
The cause of the accident was under investigation, he said.
