A Plea for Angels to Be Fair to Hudler

Regarding Rex Hudler: Come on, Mr. Moreno, get real. Yes, smoking or possessing marijuana is illegal. And so are jaywalking and littering and driving solo in the diamond lane. Without arguing the merits (or demerits) of the law, and ignoring the fact that a reliable survey would surely find a large majority of athletes take a toke now and then, it would be hugely unfair to fire the Wonder Dog for committing this less-than-heinous misdemeanor.

[That] this poor, deeply apologetic guy with a Down syndrome child needs an occasional escape from reality is certainly understandable and should be forgiven without a second thought. Do the right thing, Mr. Moreno -- let the punishment fit the crime.
