HAVANA — Cuba’s most prominent political prisoner, poet and journalist Raul Rivero, and rights activist Osvaldo Alfonso were released from prison Tuesday.
Three other dissidents had been released Monday.
Sitting in a fourth-floor apartment surrounded by books of poetry and letters supporting his freedom, Rivero said he planned to return to his writing.
“I never insulted any leaders or told a lie,” he said. “What I did was express my opinion in an honest and decent manner. What I plan to do is exactly that, in other words write.... If I can’t do that, I can’t do anything.”
