Nearly everyone pegged the Canucks as challengers this season. In fact, fans in Canada are drooling for a Vancouver-Ottawa Stanley Cup final. But San Jose, in Ron Wilson’s first full season as coach, is taking control of the Pacific Division with a 15-4-4-2 streak, including a 2-1 victory over the Canucks last week. The Sharks were the trendy pick as Cup champions last season but had a dismal start.
