Re “Assembly OKs Prison Tobacco Ban,” Jan. 27: Without speaking to the wisdom of forcing 80,000 inmates to go cold turkey at the same time, we can only hope that such a ban is publicized as widely as possible among gangbangers and other youthful offenders. I suspect it would have a much greater deterrent effect than “use a gun, go to jail.”
