An inmate awaiting arraignment on drug charges was found dead in his Fullerton City Jail cell, police said Friday.
Donald Richard Smith, 57, was discovered about 8 a.m. Thursday after he failed to show up for roll call, said Sgt. Steve Matson.
Smith was booked Tuesday and was to be arraigned Thursday, Matson said.
An autopsy completed Friday was inconclusive. Coroner’s officials are conducting toxicology tests, which take six weeks for results.
The Orange County district attorney’s office is investigating the death, as it does all inmate deaths.
