Friday: Lawmakers headed home. Most Democrats who were planning to go to their party’s convention in Boston next week have canceled. Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez (D-Los Angeles) met with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Today: The governor was expected to stay in Sacramento and might meet again with Nunez.
Quote: “The way things are going now, I don’t think even if we had a handshake deal over the weekend we would have a budget until next week. I doubt people will be going to the convention.”
