Authorities on Thursday identified an 18-year-old Oxnard man who ran onto Hueneme High School grounds after being stabbed on the street and later died.
Jose Asencion Perez was stabbed about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday while walking alone in the 4400 block of South C Street, police said.
Perez, who was not a student at the school, was apparently seeking help when he collapsed on school grounds, police said. The school was not in session.
He died a short time later at St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, police said.
Police are looking for witnesses because the area is normally busy with foot and vehicle traffic.
Anyone with information should contact Oxnard Police Det. Joe Chase at 385-7663 or call anonymously at 982-7070.
