An El Monte man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police found the body of his girlfriend in a suitcase in his mother’s house, authorities said.
Orlando Trejo, 21, was being held on suspicion of murder in the death of Kimberly Romo, 21, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Shortly after 1 p.m., El Monte police responded to a call reporting a fight, according to detectives.
Trejo, who lived with Romo in a detached unit behind his mother’s house, had asked his mother to call police, detectives said, after Romo’s mother came looking for her daughter. Officers discovered the body in a suitcase in a bedroom closet.
