Get a piece of Old Hollywood

It seems, after all, that everything is for sale in Hollywood. Even the sign.
Well, not that sign, the one gracing the hills currently, but the original sign that occupied the hallowed hillside space for more than half a century.
A 10-day auction for pieces of the old Hollywood sign begins today on EBay. Five large sections will be on display at the Hollywood Entertainment Museum in Hollywood for the auction’s duration. The nonprofit museum, which will receive a portion of the proceeds, is at 7021 Hollywood Blvd.
The original sign was built in 1923, but by the 1970s, it had begun to deteriorate. It was finally torn down, and some of the pieces were put into storage. It is portions of those pieces being auctioned. The current sign was erected in 1978.
