Education Office Asked to Address Problems

In the wake of a critical U.S. government audit, the Board of Supervisors demanded a plan Tuesday from its Office of Education to fix financial and safety problems that put millions of dollars in federal funds at risk.
The office, one of the largest recipients of Head Start grants in the nation, was cited by federal auditors for a variety of deficiencies, including failing to arrange follow-up care for children with known medical problems and inadequate fiscal oversight.
