A Little Bit Late

After reading the article “True Pioneer Gets His Due” by Sam Farmer, I couldn’t help feeling sad that Fritz Pollard’s accomplishments are only now being recognized, almost 20 years after his death. It’s nice that the NFL is finally acknowledging one of its black pioneers, but couldn’t they have done this while Mr. Pollard -- who was the football equivalent of Jackie Robinson -- was still alive to enjoy it?
Forty years after the civil rights movement and the powers that be in football are just now catching up.
