Man Falls to Death From Campus Dorm Stairway

A 21-year-old man died after falling from a stairway at a residential hall on the San Francisco State campus late Saturday.
Ivan Zimmerman of Pleasanton apparently fell from an exterior stairway in the Village at Centennial Square about 10:50 p.m., said university spokeswoman Ellen Griffin. He was pronounced dead on arrival at San Francisco General Hospital.
Zimmerman -- who had attended the university since 2002 but was not currently enrolled -- had been seen drinking alcohol, but authorities did not know if he was intoxicated when he fell.
