New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg on Thursday shot down recent rumblings over a possible sale of his namesake Bloomberg news and information service to Microsoft Corp.
“You’ll have to talk to Bloomberg but trust me, if they were going to sell the company to Microsoft I would know about it,” the mayor said at a news conference. “There are no plans and there have never been any conversations with Microsoft.”
The mayor, who owns 72% of Bloomberg, left the privately held company in 2002 to run for office. He is expected to seek a second term this fall.
