at Texas 8, Seattle 2: Mark Teixeira and Michael Young hit three-run doubles to help the Rangers move a game ahead of the Mariners and out of last place in the West Division. Teixeira’s bases-clearing double in the sixth put the Rangers ahead, 3-2, and extended his on-base streak to 34 games.
at Chicago 5, New York 4: The White Sox won two of three from the East Division leaders. The Yankees tried to rally in the ninth inning, putting two runners on with two out, but Bobby Jenks got Johnny Damon on a ground ball for his 31st save in 33 chances.
Toronto 5, at Minnesota 0: Ted Lilly limited the Twins to three hits in six shutout innings, Bengie Molina backed him with a two-run homer and the Blue Jays began a 10-game trip with a victory. Carlos Silva, who lost for the first time in six starts, was even with Lilly until the fifth, when Lyle Overbay led off with a single. Two batters later, Molina homered to right-center, giving the Blue Jays a 2-0 lead.
