Re “Brush With Death Tightens a Bond,” Aug. 15
With criminals and gang members roaming our streets armed with high-powered weapons capable of outgunning our police officers, it is time for the city to consider issuing our patrol officers a better means of firepower to defend themselves. The departmentissued sidearm and shotgun that the typical patrol officer carries are no match for the types of illegal weapons readily available on the streets, and criminals won’t hesitate to use them on officers or unarmed citizens.
