1st Human Cases of West Nile in 2006 Reported

A 24-year-old man from Orange and an 85-year-old woman from Anaheim have contracted Orange County’s first cases of human West Nile virus this year, health officials reported Thursday.
The man was hospitalized for treatment and is recovering at home, they said. The woman remains hospitalized.
So far this year, officials said, 84 human West Nile cases in 19 California counties have been reported, resulting in one death.
