Moose is making headway

Bambi or Bullwinkle? For a while now, the deer has been the undisputed king of the forest. With a host of household products including tabletop accessories and lighting fixtures, the sweet silhouette and naturally shed horns of the deer have given a rustic kick to the modern home. Now, the moose, the largest, moodiest member of the deer family, is lumbering onto center stage. Though moose antlers are webbed, making them impractical for use as a decorative element, their easily recognizable shape has proved inspirational. Lost and Found, (323) 856-5872, offers a wall-mounting clothes rack that traces the outline of antlers in red metal for $120, and a build-it-yourself, 3-D moose head made of precut plywood for $295. More moose for less moola? At Clover, (323) 661-4142, there’s a nearly life-size inflatable moose head, $22, shown here. Just don’t hang it too close to the fireplace.
