Re “Bush Vows to Patch Up His Ties to the NAACP,” July 21
President Bush’s long-delayed contact with the NAACP, a speech touting his 5-year-old agenda of privatizing Social Security, subsidizing faith-based organizations, eliminating the estate tax and advocating education vouchers, must have been written at least five years ago and exhumed for this occasion. Come on, Mr. Bush, the least you could do is come up with some fresh, relevant material for this audience. Or was this just another shrug?
