2 Couples Plan to Give University $15.5 Million

Two local couples have pledged to donate $15.5 million to UC Riverside, the largest gift in the school’s history, officials announced Friday.
The planned contribution, from the charitable trusts of Bart and Barbara Singletary and William and Toby Austin, will fund 20 professorships in the social sciences, medical education and agriculture. The posts will include a chair named for Riverside Mayor Ron Loveridge, a political science associate professor at UC Riverside.
