Rule on Employees’ Land Bidding Is Eased

In response to complaints by the county’s largest employees union, the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday amended an ordinance that banned all county workers from bidding on surplus county land and property.
The amendment allows lower-level staffers wishing to bid in county auctions to file applications supervisors would consider at board meetings.
The San Bernardino Public Employees Assn. asked the board for the exception after supervisors approved the rules late last month in response to an ethics issue that cost a top county aide his job.
