Greece: Stone inn on the mainland

“I recently stayed at a unique and lovely inn in Agios Georgios, which is in the Mt. Pelion region of Volos, Greece. Anovolios, meaning “small stone hill,” is a new inn that was transformed from six old stone houses. Each of the 15 rooms is decorated warmly with high-quality materials and has unique views of the distant sea and surrounding mountains. We loved our stay there, and at the restaurant on the premises we were served fresh traditional homemade Greek delicacies daily. Tranquil lodging.”
Doubles from $178.

“WE have just returned from a three-week trip to the Western Isles and Orkney in Scotland. We had an outstanding experience staying at Ardnastruban House, Isle of Grimsay, North Uist. It is a fine bed-and-breakfast. Hosts Margaret and Stewart Wiseman have extensive knowledge about the area and share it.”
Doubles from $92.
